Women's Porter Cup tees off today

A field of 72 golfers, including nine from Western New York, will tee off Wednesday morning in the opening round of the sixth Women’s Porter Cup tournament at the Niagara Falls Country Club.

The 2018 champion, Zoe-Beth Brake of  Hilliard, Ohio is not back to defend her title after she shot 8-under par 208 a year ago. The top finisher back from 2018 is Anna Redding of Concord, N.C., who finished third, four strokes back of Brake.

Maren Cipolla from Amherst, who completed her senior season at the University of Texas, was the top WNY finisher last year. She is not entered this year.

The WNY entry this year includes: Madison Butler (Medina), Madeline Catalano (Lewiston), Chelsea Dantonio (East Aurora), Emily Kase (Pendleton), Elena Lopez (Clarence), Victoria Parker (Lewiston), Sara Riso (Hamburg) and Sydney Shaw (Orchard Park).

The 54-hole tournament will wrap up on Friday.
