A 64-year-old pedestrian suffered serious head and leg injuries Tuesday when she was struck by a driver on Delaware Avenue in the Town of Tonawanda, according to town police.
The woman was attempting to cross Delaware near the intersection with Colonial Avenue, two blocks north of Sheridan Drive, shortly before 6 p.m. when she was hit by the driver of a pickup, police said in a news release.
The woman, identified as Deborah Bowers, was rushed to Erie County Medical Center. Her condition was not known Wednesday, police said.
Bowers was not walking in a marked crosswalk when she was struck, according to police.
The driver of the pickup, identified as John Kolnacki, 54, of the City of Tonawanda, was turning onto Delaware from Colonial when he struck Bowers.
Speed and alcohol have been ruled out as contributing factors to the crash, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
