Italian restaurant Trattoria Aroma closes on North French

One member of the Aroma restaurant family has ceased operations.

Trattoria Aroma North French, at 4840 N. French Road in East Amherst, concluded service on May 26.

The closing was planned; partner Dave Cosentino said he's already sold to a buyer who expects to open an authentic Mexican restaurant later this summer.

"It is time to tighten up, get smaller and focus on what we're doing well," explained Cosentino, who added that he will also spend more time leading tours in Rome, Italy.

Outstanding gift certificates for the North French location may be redeemed at any of the other three spots - Aroma on Bryant, 307 Bryant St.; Aroma on Main, 5229 Main St., Williamsville; and Caffe Aroma, at 957 Elmwood Ave.

While the first Aroma restaurant opened in 1990, the North French location opened in spring 2014. A few key staff members from North French have accepted a transfer to Aroma on Bryant, Cosentino confirmed.
