Code:Buffalo hackathon offering $14,500 in prizes

An upcoming coding "hackathon" will offer a total prize package of $14,500.

Code:Buffalo is scheduled for June 14 to 16. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Professionals and students who have at least basic coding skills are invited to attend.

The first-place prize is $10,000. The second-place entrant will receive $3,000, and third place will receive $1,500. Each of the winners will also receive mentoring as part of their prize package.

All competitors will be given the same project to complete, but details of the project will be kept secret until the event kicks off. Competitors will build an application using GraphQL, an open source query language. The event will take place at both Dig, which is inside the Innovation Center, and the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences atrium.
