John R. Lang, aka "Bills Elvis," will be the second fan inducted into the BFLO Hall of Fame Experience's Fan Wall of Fame, following Pancho Billa.
The induction will take place June 3 at the Town Ballroom as part of “Circle the Wagons with Chris Berman and the Twang Gang Band.” General admission tickets are $30, VIP tickets (includes two drink tickets, preferred viewing area) are $75.
“A huge thank you to everyone for the past 27 years that I have had fun with at the games and to all Bills fans for helping me to continue the great tradition," Lang said in a news release. "I have plans to be at every home game and eventually the Super Bowl!”
Lang has been a season ticket holder since 1992 and tailgates with about 50 friends from Lockport along with his wife Therese, daughter Abbey and son Johnathan.
The story beyond the Elvis outfit: Lang made a bet with a Miami Dolphins fan that he could get on national television during a game. He made an Elvis costume, put "Squish the Fish" on a guitar and was spotted by the cameras to win the bet.
Organizers informed Ezra "Pancho Billa" Castro of Lang's induction several weeks ago. Castro died last week after a battle with cancer.
“The BFLO Hall of Fame Experience is not just to honor inductees but also to honor the Fans that have shown their support over many decades for Buffalo sports teams, musicians and broadcasters. The Buffalo Fan Wall of Fame will be a tribute to the Fans and their dedication to being a No. 1 Fan,” Therese Forton-Barnes, director of strategic planning for the BFLO Hall of Fame Experience, said in a release.
The Hall of Fame Experience includes representatives from the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and Buffalo Broadcasters Association with the goal of creating one venue that hosts all three halls.
