Former UB standout Cierra Dillard parts ways with WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks

The WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks have waived Cierra Dillard, a former University at Buffalo women's basketball standout.

Dillard posted Saturday on her Twitter account that she was leaving Los Angeles, five days after the Sparks claimed her off waivers from the Minnesota Lynx.

"Thank you LA for the experience & lessons," Dillard posted. "Also getting to know what I can bring to the table, and also being so very real with me! There’s a timing for everything. Getting and staying ready for overseas & future opportunities. I will shock people again very soon! #Itsaprocess"

Dillard played for one minute, missed one shot and was called for a foul in the Sparks' exhibition game Friday against Seattle in Pasadena, Calif.

The Sparks waived Dillard and center Rachel Hollivay on Saturday.

Dillard was cut from a WNBA team for the second time in a week; the Minnesota Lynx cut Dillard on May 11. Dillard was a second-round pick by the Lynx in the WNBA Draft in April.

Dillard plans to pursue playing basketball overseas.
