Buffalo man convicted of cyberstalking mother of his children sentenced

A Buffalo man who was convicted of cyberstalking the mother of his children has been sentenced to a 41-month prison sentence by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors said that between Jan. 25, 2018, and Feb. 19, 2018, Mark Bieniek, 45, violated an order of protection by sending several hundred harassing and threatening electronic messages to the victim and her new partner, causing substantial emotional distress.

Prosecutors said Bieniek's intent was to place her or her partner in reasonable fear of death or serious injury.

Bieniek lived in North Richland Hills in Texas at the time, while the victim resided in Erie County.

Prosecutors said Bieniek had a history of domestic violence.
