UB football schedules six-game series with UMass, starting in 2022

The University at Buffalo football team has scheduled a six-game series with Massachusetts, beginning in 2022.

The UB athletic department announced the series Thursday; UMass will host UB on Oct. 15, 2022, at McGuirk Stadium in Amherst, Mass. The series will take a one-year hiatus in 2023, then resume in 2024 when UB hosts the Minutemen on Sept. 14, 2024, at UB Stadium.

The remaining four games in the series will alternate sites; UMass will host UB in 2025 and 2027, and UB will host UMass in 2026 and 2028.

Buffalo leads the all-time series 7-6. UMass defeated UB, 31-26, in the last meeting between the two teams, on Nov. 27, 2015, at UB Stadium. UMass was a football-only member of the Mid-American Conference from 2011 to 2015 and is currently an independent FBS program.

UB opens the 2019 season Aug. 29 against Robert Morris, an FCS opponent, at UB Stadium.
