Section VI boys lacrosse pairings unveiled

Orchard Park (Class A), Hamburg (Class B) and Salamanca (Class D) earned No. 1 seeds for the coming Section VI boys lacrosse tournament, as officials unveiled most of the playoff bracket Wednesday night.

The Class C bracket is schedule to be unveiled later Wednesday after three prime-time games with seeding implications have been finished.

The tournament begins Thursday with first-round games in Classes B and C. It really ramps up with quarterfinal action across three classifications Tuesday.

There are only four teams in Class A, which opens tournament play with semifinals May 23. Defending champion Lancaster is a No. 2 seed and hosts third-seeded Clarence, while top-seeded OP faces Buffalo Public Schools combined team.

The championship games will be played May 29 at Williamsville East, which plans to use two fields during the finals.

Semifinals, May 23

4-Buffalo at 1-Orchard Park, 7 p.m.

3-Clarence at 2-Lancaster, 5 p.m.

Final: 5:30 p.m. May 29 at Williamsville East

CLASS B

First round, Thursday

9-North Tonawanda at 8-Frontier, 7 p.m.

Quarterfinals, Tuesday

9/8 winner at 1-Hamburg, 7:30 p.m.

5-West Seneca West at 4-Niagara Wheatfield, 5 p.m.

7-Lockport at 2-Williamsville North, 5 p.m.

6-Sweet Home at 3-Williamsville East, 7 p.m.

Semifinals: May 23 at higher seeded team

Final: May 29 at Williamsville East, TBA

CLASS D

Quarterfinals, Tuesday

6-Gowanda at 3-Eden, 5 or 7 p.m.

5-Newfane at 4-Medina, 5 or 7 p.m.

6/3 winner at 2-Akron, 5:30 p.m.
