Long-delayed Hofbrauhaus Buffalo restaurant sets official opening date

In the works for five years, Hofbrauhaus Buffalo has an official opening date.

"It is with a confidence tempered by the patience and prudence learned over the last year," a post on the restaurant's website said, "that we officially announce: Hofbrauhaus Buffalo will be opening in August 2019."

In December, operating partner Kevin Townsell was still looking for a few more investors. Visible work on 190 Scott St. facade had paused for months.

"Today, a major financing hurdle is officially behind us, and work will be resuming towards completion of exterior and interior construction," said the statement, posted May 15.

The vast German-style beer hall franchise is known for German-style beers brewed on premises and classic German fare like schnitzel, sausage and spaetzle. It's expected to hold 500 customers inside and 300 outside, in a beer garden setting.

"The remaining brewery equipment is shipping soon and slated to arrive from Bavaria in about 8 weeks, after which the installation process will begin immediately. While the brewery is being installed and the building is nearing completion, we will be in the midst of a hiring and training blitz to ready our staff for opening."
