Brandon A. Ortiz, who pleaded guilty to a spree of four robberies in Niagara County last fall, was sentenced Tuesday to 16 years in state prison.
County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III tacked on five years of post-release supervision for Ortiz, 21, of McKoon Avenue, Niagara Falls.
On Oct. 6, Ortiz robbed a 7-Eleven store at 15th Street and Pine Avenue in the Falls. Three days later, armed with a shotgun, he invaded a McKoon Avenue home, robbed the occupants of cash and stole one of their cars.
He was joined in those crimes by Joshua A. Carr, 18, of Ontario Avenue in the Falls, who pleaded guilty April 5 to those robberies as well as a third he committed on his own. Carr is awaiting sentencing next month.
Ortiz, acting alone, continued his crime spree by robbing a man at gunpoint Oct. 13 on Ontario Avenue. On Nov. 4, he held up a 7-Eleven in North Tonawanda while armed with a starter’s pistol.
