Mikiah Kreps and two other boxers representing Buffalo won their bouts Wednesday night in the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Tennessee.
Kreps triumphed over Charise Jones of Cincinnati in her 125-pound women's elite division match, when her opponent could not come out for the second round and retired.
Alex Castellano won for the second time in the tournament, defeating Frederico Compton of Indiana at 123 pounds, 5-0. Jesse Noble IV of Rochester won a 5-0 decision over Larry Broaden of Indiana at 141 pounds.
Samir Alowbali lost a decision to Abraham Perez of Colorado-New Mexico at 114 pounds, and heavyweight Nolan Smith lost on a second-round technical knockout against Pryce Taylor of New York Metro.
Charles Garner III of Buffalo lost a decision at 152 pounds to Jon Bryant of Rocky Mountain.
