The Workers' Memorial Monument at the base of the Niagara Power Project Reservoir in Lewiston will be the scene of the 28th annual Workers' Memorial Day observance at 10 a.m. Saturday. The event will be preceded by a continental breakfast at 9 a.m.
The Niagara-Orleans Labor Council of the AFL-CIO holds the event each year to remember workers who died from work-related injuries. The memorial in Reservoir State Park can be reached from Military Road.
The agenda will include a program of speakers, an honor guard salute, a bagpiper playing "Amazing Grace," a lone bugler playing "Taps," and the raising of flags in memory of people who gave their lives as a result of their jobs.
