More than 900 seniors from seven Niagara County high schools are scheduled to attend the county's 24th annual Traffic Safety Fair, to be held Wednesday and Thursday in the Kenan Center Arena, 195 Beattie Ave., Lockport.
Karen Torres of Long Island, a member of the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, will speak about her father, a Department of Transportation worker who was killed by a distracted driver, said Capt. Robert Richards of the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the county STOP-DWI coordinator.
Richards said the students will take part in various activities promoting traffic safety, including trying to drive a pedal cart through a course of cones while wearing goggles that simulate the effects of intoxication.
Mercy Flight, the county Emergency Management Department and the state Department of Motor Vehicles also will participate in the event at Kenan Arena.
