LocalEdge eyes sale of Tonawanda buildings, move to Amherst

The internet marketing company LocalEdge has put up for sale its two buildings in the Town of Tonawanda as it weighs moving those employees to the company's Amherst offices.

The company, started as the White Directory Publishers in 1968, was headquartered for years at 1945 Sheridan Drive, just west of Colvin Boulevard. It expanded next door, to 1965 Sheridan, in 1998.

Hearst Media Services acquired White Directory Publishers in 2004 and, two years later, opened offices at 61 John Muir Drive. Today, marketing, finance, human resources and the Buffalo sales team are in Amherst while the fulfillment team for print and digital products is in Tonawanda, said LocalEdge marketing manager Chris Post.

Post declined to provide employment figures. He said Hearst wants to gauge the interest in the Sheridan Drive buildings because consolidating at one location is ideal.

The buildings, with a combined 36,000 square feet on 2 acres, are listed for $1.5 million, significantly less than the $2.6 million Hearst paid in 2004. Pyramid Brokerage Co. has the listing.
