Pro Football Focus ranked Oklahoma offensive tackle Cody Ford as the 22nd best player in the draft. ESPN's Mel Kiper said he thought it was possible for Ford to be selected in the top 20 Thursday night in Nashville.
Kiper, Touchdown Wire's Doug Farrer and Pro Football Focus, among others, all used the word "steal" to describe Buffalo getting Ford at pick 38.
Between that and the selection of Ed Oliver at No. 9, it was hard for anyone to find bad things to say about Buffalo's eight-player draft class from this weekend.
In a sampling we put together of Buffalo's draft grade from national analysts, The Sporting News' "B" was the lowest grade the Bills received. The Bills, on the heels of an active free agency period, earned a lot of A's this weekend.
Ed Oliver draws from football family, love of animals: The newest Bills defensive lineman has a Great Dane named Houston and grew up with horses (one of them is named Oreo). The animal lover is a family man and a pretty darn good football player, too. Jason Wolf went deep on Oliver.
What He Said: New Bills tackle Cody Ford arrives in Buffalo: The Bills reportedly wanted to move back into the first round to select him. "It shows me how much faith they have in me and how much belief they have in me," Ford said.
Underdogs already: The Westgate Las Vegas Super Book released lines for some of the prominent games of the 2019 NFL season. Two Bills games made the cut, including the Thanksgiving matchup in Dallas, where the Bills are currently a touchdown underdog.
