The Bisons’ first game without Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did not go smoothly.
Buffalo (5-13) fell to Lehigh Valley, 7-2, Friday night at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa.
Jonathan Davis homered and Michael De La Cruz doubled to highlight the Bisons’ offense.
The IronPigs (15-5) were led by Lane Adams and Deivy Grullon, who each drove in three runs on two hits.
Once again, pitching became a problem as the game progressed. The IronPigs picked on Bisons pitcher Shawn Morimando to the tune of seven runs (six earned) and ten hits in four innings.
Morimando also struck out seven and walked three.
Buffalo got out to a two-run lead in the top of the third inning. The advantage was quickly erased in the bottom of the inning by Lehigh Valley when Grullon doubled.
The hit drove in Shane Robinson, Mitch Walding and Andrew Romine for a 3-2 advantage.
Two home runs from Adams and Gift Ngoepe broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth for the IronPigs.
Ranger Suárez led Lehigh Valley on the mound with 6.1 innings pitched. He struck out seven and gave up three hits.
The two teams will continue their three-game series today at 6:35 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field before concluding Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
