The health insurer Fidelis Care would add 70 jobs at its Getzville data center if the project receives tax breaks from the Amherst Industrial Development Agency.
Fidelis Care, now part of Centene Corp., has 1,420 employees in 480 and 490 CrossPoint Parkway at Uniland Development Co.'s CrossPoint Business Park.
Uniland recently filed plans to build a 6-acre parking lot with 600 spaces, boosting the insurer's total to 1,400, though a Fidelis Care spokeswoman previously declined comment on whether the spaces were needed for an expansion.
Uniland, on behalf of Centene, applied for $213,520 in sales tax breaks, $18,000 in mortgage recording tax breaks and an unknown amount in property tax breaks. Uniland states Centene has options for placing the new employees and incentives would ensure they're added here.
Fidelis Care may move a department to 105 CrossPoint, creating space for the 70 employees in its existing buildings. Uniland estimates a $3 milion project cost, not counting property acquisition.
Work would finish by August. The Amherst IDA set a May 3 public hearing.
