2 Tonawanda vape shops selling to underage customers

Employees at two Tonawanda vape shops have been caught selling liquid nicotine products to underage youth.

Town of Tonawanda Police said its Special Investigation Unit conducted an underage vaping sales sting operation Wednesday for the second time this year.

A decoy under 18 years old was sent to the four vaping locations in the town, and was able to buy merchandise from two of them. Police said the businesses cited were Planet Vape, 894 Brighton Road, and Vape Linq, 2890 Elmwood Ave.

It was the second time in just over two months that an employee of Vape Linq was cited for selling liquid nicotine products in violation of New York State Public health law, police said.

Employees at both locations were issued appearance tickets for violations of the public health law prohibiting the sale of tobacco or nicotine products to people less than 18 years old.

The employees from both locations are due in Tonawanda Town Court May 15.
