Christopher M. Shelton, president of the Communications Workers of America, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the annual dinner of the Western New York Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, on April 25 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
The CWA represents 700,000 private and public sector workers in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Shelton was elected president of the union in 2015. The Bronx native began his union career at New York Telephone in 1968, and joined the CWA national staff in 1988.
The Western New York ALF consists of five central labor councils with more than 130,000 members in the region.
