A Buffalo man was arrested on assault and burglary charges Monday after he allegedly poured boiling water on a man and stabbed him several times with a kitchen knife in the man's Lovejoy neighborhood home, according to Buffalo police.
Brian S. Szpadel, 28, allegedly poured boiling water on the victim's face and arms while he was lying in bed in his Longnecker Street home, causing second-degree burns, and stabbing the victim multiple times, including causing a deep wound in the lower left back above the buttocks, police said.
Police said it was a domestic incident and that they recovered the kitchen knife from the bedroom floor. The victim was taken to Erie County Medical Center, police said.
Szpadel was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police officers responded to the scene after a 911 call of a stabbing. Police reports stated that Szpadel entered the home without permission through an unlocked front door and used a silver, medium-sized pot to pour the boiling water.
