Four-story Candlewood Suites planned for Lancaster

Plans for the construction of a 101-room, four-story hotel on Freeman Road near the Buffalo Niagara International Airport will be presented Wednesday evening to the Lancaster Planning Board.

The $10 million project proposed for Candlewood Suites calls for the demolition of the former 88-room Buffalo Airport Inn at 50 Freeman Road, according to documents submitted to the town. A hotel shop-and-go food mart and minor modifications to the parking lot are planned by Clarence developer Paul Bliss, who purchased the 1.92-acre property at auction for $1.35 million.

Town planners also expect to review site plans for: a 9,000-square-foot warehouse expansion at Advanced Thermal Systems, 15 Enterprise Drive; an asphalt and stone parking lot for the Hull House, 5976 Genesee St. and a 21,000-square-foot dealership and service center for Towne Audi on Transit Road.

The planning board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lancaster Town Hall, 21 Central Ave.
