A little more than a hour to the north of Pawtucket, the Boston Red Sox were able to get in their Patriots’ Day game against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park in Boston on Monday before the rain came.
Later, the Pawtucket Red Sox and Buffalo Bisons were not as fortunate. Their scheduled night game at McCoy Stadium was postoned due to the rain and wet field conditions. The teams will play a single-admission doubleheader Tuesday to make it up (Radio 1520, 4:05 p.m.).
It’s the first road postponement for the Bisons. Buffalo did have a home game against the PawSox called off because of the weather on April 10 at Sahlen Field.
Jacob Waguespack (1-1, 5.23) and Shawn Morimando (0-1, 14.29) are expected to get the starts for Buffalo on Tuesday against Mike Shawaryn (1-0, 3.18) and Erasmo Ramirez (1-0, 1.13).
There was one Bisons roster change on Monday. The parent Toronto Blue Jays purchased the contract of infielder Eric Sogard from Buffalo and optioned infielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to the Herd. Gurriel Jr. batted .293 with five home runs and six RBIs in 37 games for the Bisons last season. Gurriel is expected to join the Herd in Pawtucket.
