The new Starbucks on Main Street in Amherst, just outside Williamsville, opened this morning.
The 3,300-square-foot coffee shop at 5165 Main St., at South Forest Road, replaces the chain's original location at 5429 Main that didn't have a drive-thru because of restrictions placed by the village.
The new location does have a drive-thru, along with a feature that's not common at area Starbucks stores: a meeting room that the public can book.
Starbucks closed the original location, which opened in 1997, on April 4. New employees trained at a Starbucks in Cheektowaga to prepare for today's opening.
The coffee shop fills the building at 5165 Main that previously had two storefronts, one occupied by Dunkin' Donuts and one vacant.
The new Starbucks is almost directly across from a Tim Hortons and down the road from a Spot Coffee.
