Explosions in the Sky to bring anniversary show to Babeville

Post-rock heavyweights Explosions in the Sky will return to downtown Buffalo at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 in Babeville's Asbury Hall (341 Delaware Ave.).

Making its first area appearance in over a decade, the cinematic Austin-based act will be returning to the road as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.

While the band has been steadily sharing building compositions that range from melancholy to triumphant since dropping its debut "How Strange, Innocence" in 2000, the instrumental group's true breakthrough came after sound-tracking the sports movie "Friday Night Lights" in 2004. EITS's music would go to on be prominently used in the popular television show of the same name as well as score a handful of films over the years.

The band's most recent release was 2016's grand "The Wilderness."

Advance tickets are $30 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Apr. 19 through the venue's ticket office, or charge by phone at 877-987-6487.
