Good news for beer fans who enjoyed Genesee Ruby Red Kolsch for a time last spring before it quickly sold out: The Rochester brewery will reintroduce the beer on Monday — and this time made more than twice the batches it did the first time.
The golden German-style ale boasts a tart grapefruit flavor mellowed by a bready malt body and mild hop bitterness. Genesee Brew House Brewmaster Dean Jones crafted the beer last summer with input from collaborators with Buffalo-based Labatt USA, which is in the same corporate family.
“All year we’ve gotten requests to bring it back from thousands of comments on social media to dozens of calls to the brewery and even DIY beer trackers,” Genesee Brand Director Janine Schoos said in a news release. “Now, as the weather is starting to warm up, we’re happy to deliver.”
Ruby Red Kolsch will begin shipping Monday and be available on draft in restaurants and taprooms across the region and in 12-pack cans in retail establishments. Find the beer nearest you by visiting geneseebeer.com/beer/genesee-kolsch.
