Burglar drops in through drugstore ceiling, steals hundreds of opiate pills

A burglar dropped into Niagara Apothecary, 8745 Niagara Falls Blvd., through the ceiling Saturday evening and stole 876 opiate pills, along with a small amount of cash, Niagara Falls Police said.

A burglar alarm brought officers to the drugstore around 7 p.m., and once the owner arrived, police reviewed surveillance video which showed a man falling through the office ceiling at 6:54 p.m.

He went directly into the pharmacy bays and left with 377 hydrocodone tablets, 499 oxycodone pills and $75 in cash, according an initial audit of store inventory. Police described him as a heavyset white male with facial hair, wearing a blue hoodie, black winter hat, black pants and white sneakers.
