Ask a non-New York native to point to Buffalo on a map, and you might be surprised by the answers.
Vampire Weekend, which just announced an April 30 show in Babeville for its Father of the Bride Tour, published a flyer for its three-show tour that plops Buffalo in Central New York, roughly in Syracuse. We promise it is not there, and we'd expect a band that originated in New York City to know better. The rest of the state matters, too!

Despite the gaffe - and hey, maybe Vampire Weekend originally intended to play Syracuse before a late change of plans - the Buffalo show has plenty of buzz as the three-piece drops its "Father of the Bride" album May 3 in New York City.
Tickets, which cost $50, go on sale at 10 a.m. April 12 via Ticketfly. Given the relatively small size of Asbury Hall in Babeville, expect the show to sell out quickly.
Vampire Weekend played a two-night New York State tour in 2014, including a gig at Buffalo's Outer Harbor. Read a review from that show.
Buffalonians are loaded with anecdotes - often from out-of-state Uber drivers - who believe Buffalo is close to New York City, while it's not uncommon for University at Buffalo's college football recruits to have erroneous beliefs about the Queen City's location. And there was Shaggy, who thought he was in Albany during a Canalside show, but we suppose that's a little different.
