In a rare tweet, Phil Housley posted his thanks for his time as the Buffalo Sabres' coach and said the "Buffalo community will always hold a special place in my heart."
Housley was fired Sunday after two seasons on the job. He has yet to speak to reporters about his dismissal.
Thank you to the fans, players, coaches and staff of the @BuffaloSabres for the opportunity to coach a team that has been such an important part of my life. Thank you to the Pegulas - the Buffalo community will always hold a special place in my heart.

Housley's wife, Karin, did not pull punches Monday night on Twitter, writing that "patience is rare" and pointed out the team's improvement under her husband's guidance this season.
