A 29-year-old citizen of the Netherlands was arrested Tuesday on felony drug charges at the Peace Bridge after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers allegedly discovered the man in possession of more than a pound and a half of marijuana, according to a spokesman for the agency's Buffalo field office.
The spokesman said the man arrived at the Peace Bridge in a taxi and claimed to be returning from a short trip to Niagara Falls. He was referred for a secondary inspection after customs officers examined the man's luggage and allegedly discovered a small speaker that contained 10 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana, weighing 689.9 grams.
The man was turned over to Buffalo Police, the spokesman for Customs and Border Protection said. He was identified in a Buffalo police report as Tashangky Jones.
Jones faces a felony charge of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
