Sheriff: Thief takes $600 worth of books from Clarence Barnes and Noble

Erie County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who stole 23 books worth over $600 from the Barnes and Noble store in Clarence earlier, Sheriff Timothy B. Howard said in a statement.

The sheriff's office released images of the suspect, described as a short, white male with dark glasses.

The incident took place at about 7 p.m. on Feb. 17 at the bookstore on Transit Road.

Investigators said the store manager saw the man carrying a shopping basket filled with merchandise walk past all points of purchase and into the parking lot. When store employees confronted him, the man fled in a dark green hatchback-type vehicle heading north on Transit.

Sheriff's officials asked anyone with information to call them at  716-858-2903 and refer to CL# 19-013407.
