New police brutality trial set for June on charge jury hung on

Corey Krug, the Buffalo police officer acquitted of three of the four charges against him, will go on trial again June 11.

The new trial will focus on the one felony charge the jury could not agree on, the allegation that Krug used excessive force against Devin Ford of Lackawanna on Chippewa Street Thanksgiving Day morning four years ago.

U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara pointed to media coverage of the first trial and the need to select an impartial jury for the second trial in putting off the new trial until June.

Krug, an 18-year department veteran, was charged with using excessive force in three separate incidents but was cleared in two of the incidents, including a charge of falsifying a report in one of those cases.
