Man, 75, faces weapons possession, menacing charges

A 75-year-old Buffalo man faces two felony weapons charges after an incident Tuesday morning on Hewitt Avenue, according to a police report.

A woman told police Anthony Benson threatened her and a male relative with a gun and then a baseball bat following an argument shortly after 7:30 a.m., according to the report.

Police recovered a loaded, .22-caliber revolver hidden beneath a mattress in a home on Hewitt, between Parkridge and Comstock avenues. Officer also recovered a bat inside the home.

In addition to the felonies, Benson also was charged with misdemeanor weapons possession and two counts of menacing, according to the report.
