Home of the Week: Cuckoo clocks and more in Mayville

Siblings Philip Mure and Roberta Mure have an extensive collection of clocks in their Mayville home in Chautauqua County. Most came from garage sales and thrift shops. Here is how they described their old Victorian for our latest Home of the Week feature:

"This Victorian house is beautifully decorated inexpensively with garage sale and thrift shop finds. How many houses have you seen with anniversary clocks, over 30 working cuckoo clocks, grandfather clocks, mantel clocks and wall clocks beautifully displayed?

"The floral wallpaper reflects the exterior paint colors. An intricate front patio leads to the foyer which has a restored treadle sewing machine and an oak staircase graced by two windows incorporating stained glass.

"The first floor features oak flooring. One parlor has a very large church organ, fireplace and mantel, while the second parlor features a beautiful reed organ. The dining room has furniture inherited from our grandparents and a crystal chandelier.

"The bright, old-fashioned kitchen has a picture window overlooking an enormous backyard. Bedrooms upstairs are wallpapered and feature pine floors," they wrote.
