More than 2,800 without power in Erie County

The winds have died down, and so are the number of homes without power in Western New York.

A total of just over 2,800 customers were without power in Erie County as of 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the websites of National Grid and NYSEG.

National Grid reported 1,471 without power in Erie County while NYSEG reported 1,357.

Among National Grid customers, the main municipalities affected are Buffalo (645), Amherst (537) and the Town of Tonawanda (145). National Grid estimates that most of its Erie County customers will have their power restored by noon Wednesday.

For NYSEG, leading areas affected were West Seneca (315), Orchard Park (302), Cheektowaga (258) and Elma (166). Most areas had restoration times listed sometime Tuesday evening, with times ranging from 3 to 7 p.m.

Niagara County residents, for the most part, have power. Only 45 of more than 82,500 customers were without power Tuesday morning, according to National Grid.
