Clerical error requires do-over vote on renovations at Tonawanda golf dome

Six weeks ago, the Tonawanda Town Board voted to borrow $2.5 million to pay for renovations at the town's Paddock Chevrolet Golf Dome.

Monday night, the Town Board voted to borrow $2.5 million to pay for the same repairs.

No, the project didn't double in price. Instead, the town didn't properly notify residents it had voted on the bond resolution.

The Town Clerk's Office didn't publish a notice in the town's official paper, the Ken-Ton Bee, to begin a 30-day public response period after the Jan. 14 vote.

Town Clerk Marguerite Greco took responsibility for the error. Monday's do-over vote just sets the project back a few weeks, Supervisor Joseph Emminger said.

Planned work includes a new dome covering, new artificial turf and other upgrades at the nearly 20-year-old facility.
