Liberty Hound restaurant to remain in Canalside museum

The Liberty Hound restaurant is staying on Canalside after all.

The restaurant space in the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park museum was the subject of a request for proposals in December.

In the end, park management went with a familiar management team, Jason Davidson and Mike Shatzel, the partners that had opened Liberty Hound there in 2011.

“We are working out details of a new long-term lease with the Buffalo Naval Park, and Liberty Hound plans on staying put for a long time,” Davidson said in a statement.

“We’re grateful for the public support we received and are humbled by it. We have always had a great relationship with the Buffalo Naval Park, and we’re happy the new lease will benefit both the park and the restaurant.”

Liberty Hound is the only full-time restaurant on the Canalside property. Seasonal earlier in its history, it is now a year-round operation.

Between them, Shatzel and Davidson also have a hand in The Terrace at Delaware Park, Allen Burger Venture, Coles, Brennan's Bowery Bar, Thin Man Brewery, Colter Bay, and Moor Pat.
