Letter: Trump’s lies, leadership is depressing to witness

An interesting quote just came across my desk, “You can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips.”

After hearing and reading thousands of words about how well President Trump is doing even if he tells thousands of lies, I believe this quote captures the essence of our president’s corrupt life and leadership.

That Trump supporters and his base can dismiss his thousands of lies by citing recent economic success or a meeting with another vicious dictator is truly, morally amazing.

Once you gladly universalize lying as a moral action, you set a society up for collapse, and this is what Trump has repeatedly done over his entire lifetime. Now he drags down the rest of us and the good name of the United States.

That U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Rep. Chris Collins of Clarence can standby as their party’s president tells one whopper after another is one of the most morally sad activities I have ever witnessed a political party ever do in American and maybe in recent world history.
