Comedy on Tap: Ryan Hamilton, Ian Sirota and 'Paint and Punchlines'

Ring in March with a roar of laughter with our comedy recommendations for the weekend:

Rising comedian Ryan Hamilton comes to Buffalo to headline five shows at Helium Comedy Club. Hamilton has made several appearances on many of the top comedy shows over the past few years, including “Last Comic Standing,” “Inside Amy Schumer,” “Conan,” “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” and several televised comedy specials. He was also named one of Rolling Stone’s “Five Comics to Watch.” Hamilton’s latest special, “Happy Face,” premiered on Netflix. He will perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 28 and 7:30 and 10 p.m. March 1 and 2. Tickets range from $17 to $33. Info:

Comic and “Jerry Springer” hoax-er Ian Sirota returns to the area with shows at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. March 2 in Rob’s Comedy Playhouse. Sirota and other comedians staged a “I’m sleeping with my babysitter” prank on Springer’s car-crash talk show in 1995, and the results were even more surreal: a court settlement with Springer totaling $10. The hoax was named one of the funniest moments in Canadian comedy history. Sirota has gone on to open for Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan and Robin Williams. General admission $12. Info:

Going out for a night of socialized painting with friends has become a popular activity in recent years, and Helium presents its own twist on it with “Paint and Punchlines” at 5 p.m. March 3. The club offers patrons dinner and drinks, followed by a session with an expert painter and club comedian sitting along offering commentary. The event closes with a short stand-up comedy show. General admission tickets are $59. Info:
