For those times when you need a little wine after yoga class, Megan Leith might have the solution.
Leith, of the Town of Tonawanda, has opened up a barre yoga studio in Allentown, called Barretend, where she hopes to do special events or special classes, with wine available afterward.
She is seeking a special-use permit from the Common Council for a tavern license at the studio – located in a building owned by her father's estate at 503 Delaware Ave., near Allen Street. She filed for the permit under her former married name, Calvert.
Her primary business is the yoga, using a ballet-style barre for balance, while only serving alcohol occasionally, she explained to the Buffalo Planning Board, which recommended approval of the permit Monday, but capped the hours for wine to end at 9 p.m.
Classes are held in the morning, afternoon and evening, with a light menu of smoothies, oatmeal bowls and fruit and cheese platters offered in the evening. Only the yoga students can partake of the wine, she added.
