Police charge Irving woman with violating state's Leandra's Law

An Irving woman was charged with violating the state’s Leandra’s Law Saturday night for allegedly driving drunk with an 18-month-old child inside her vehicle, State Police reported.

Troopers said they found Nancy Jimerson, 34, parked on the shoulder of the Thruway north of Exit 23 in Niagara Falls around 9 p.m., determined that she was intoxicated and said there was a toddler in the back seat without a proper child safety seat.

Jimerson, who has a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated, was charged with felony DWI, aggravated DWI, use of a vehicle without an ignition interlock device and endangering the welfare of a child. She was remanded to Niagara Falls City Jail in lieu of $750 bail. The child was turned over to a family member.
