Police: Falls woman faces DWI charges after car strikes bicyclist who then tracked her down

NIAGARA FALLS – A woman who reportedly told police she had been drinking at a neighborhood bar was arrested Saturday after striking a 13-year-old bicyclist with her car before leaving the scene, city police said.

The victim, a Cayuga Drive resident, was apparently not seriously injured in the 12:22 p.m. accident, police said. He and family members tracked the car to a residence in the 1200 block of 89th Street, and police said the suspect emerged as they started to tow it.  She reportedly admitted hitting the teen, but explained that she left the scene after he said he was OK.

Police said Leslie A. Brandt, 48, registered 0.18 on a Breathalyzer test, more than twice the legal limit. She was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
