Monsignor Martin Executive Director Pete Schneider told The News that as of now the Niagara Cup hockey final at Harborcenter at 4:25 p.m. Monday and the large school girls basketball semifinal doubleheader at Villa Maria College are on as scheduled.
However, if the situation deems traveling to the games as being too dangerous for any of the schools involved on Monday, things could change.
Meanwhile, Grand Island AD Jon Roth says that the Vikings' Section VI Division II hockey final which follows the Niagara Cup title game at Harborcenter Monday is on as scheduled even though the school will be closed due to a downed power line.
Section VI boys basketball chairman Larry Jones said a decision regarding Monday's slate of Section VI semifinal games will be made in the morning. Williamsville North is one of the participants but as of now Williamsville Central Schools are closed Monday due to the damaging winds that continues to blow through Western New York.
Basketball semifinals are set to take place at Buffalo State (Class AA doubleheader) and Jamestown CC. The Jamestown slate features a Class C-1 doubleheader (No. 1 Middle Early College vs. 5-seed Chautauqua Lake at 5:15 p.m. followed by defending champion Tapestry against last year's state Class D champion East) and a Class D semifinal between Panama and Clymer at 8:15 p.m.
