A taxicab driver told Buffalo Police that a passenger fired a gun in the back seat of his car and hit him in the head with the weapon while robbing him of $30 early Friday morning.

Officers recovered a .45 caliber handgun and a round from the taxi after the suspect fled the vehicle without them at East Woodlawn Avenue and Moselle Street at around 3:28 a.m., according to a police report.

The driver told police he tried to wrestle the gun away from the suspect in the back seat of the vehicle after the robber hit him with the gun.
