Deputy hit in face by suspect during traffic stop

A Chautauqua County sheriff's deputy was hit in the face during a traffic stop Friday night before taking the suspect into custody.

Steven B. Combs, 25, of Wattsburg, Pa., was arrested in the 11:33 p.m. incident on Route 426 in the town of French Creek on charges including being a fugitive from justice, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, harassment, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic infractions, the Sheriff's Office said.

Combs struck the deputy when he tried to arrest him on a warrant from Erie County, Pa., according to authorities.
