Driver, 70, ticketed in head-on collision with school bus

A 70-year-old woman was ticketed Friday morning after a head-on collision with a school bus on Tonawanda Creek Road in the Town of Lockport, state police said.

The woman, identified by police as Nancy Shatzel of North Tonawanda, suffered minor injuries when, while driving east at about 8:20 a.m., she crossed into an oncoming lane.

Two adults and 10 children on the bus were not injured, troopers said. The bus was owned by Ridge Road Express and the students ranged in age from 5 to 9 years old.

Shatzel was ticketed for failure to keep right, police said.
