Cummins plant sets record for engine production

Cummins Inc.'s engine plant near Jamestown set a record for engine production in 2018.

The Lakewood plant produced more than 120,000 units, up 32 percent from the previous year, according to the Indiana-based company. The site is Chautauqua County's largest private employer, with about 1,700 employees.

The plant makes heavy-duty engines for applications including over-the-road trucks. Last year, the plant made the 2 millionth engine in its history, and marked its first year under new plant manager Anna M. Dibble.
