The Buffalo Maritime Center will hold an open house on March 2 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of DeWitt Clinton's birth. Clinton championed the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825.
Live hot metal pours, spoonmaking demos, tours of boat restorations, a packet boat cake, music and servings of Boatwright's Brown Ale will be part of the festivities.
The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 90 Arthur St. in the city's Black Rock section, with a pre-open house speaker starting at 4:30 p.m.
The maritime center requests that people planning to attend email email@example.com.
