Bandits try for fifth straight win

The Buffalo Bandits travel a short ways to take on their next opponent. Buffalo will play the Rochester Knighthawks at 7:30 p.m. at Blue Cross Arena.

Buffalo allowed the most goals they have all season when the teams last met. The Knighthawks pounded Bandits goalies Zach Higgins and Matt Vinc for 18 goals on 48 shots. Since, Buffalo has gone 4-0, outscoring opponents, 61-36.

The Bandits are tied for the best record in the NLL at 8-2 and are winners of seven of the past eight.

Buffalo most recently defeated the Calgary Roughnecks, 12-10. Buffalo was down until late in the fourth quarter where forward Dhane Smith found the back of the net to lead the comeback.

Vinc, who allowed 13 goals to Rochester, stopped 40 of 50 shots against Calgary to make his record 8-0 on the season.

The Bandits are the top-ranked offense in the NLL, led by Shawn Evans’ 63 points. Evans has the most points in the entire league. Buffalo has the most goals, 146, and the best goal differential at plus-36. The Bandits have 10 players with at least 16 points halfway through the season.

The newest addition to the team, Chris Cloutier, has one goal in his only game played with Buffalo.

Rochester is 2-8 on the season and are coming off of their bye week. The Knighthawks’ leading scorer, Cody Jamieson, has 42 points. That would rank fourth on Buffalo.

Smith has recorded 37 points over his past five games and Corey Small has 27.

The season series between the teams is 1-1 and will be the last time the two meet this year.
