The City of Niagara Falls has $138,000 in federal funds available to assist small businesses in the city through a new Small Business Support Fund, Community Development Director Seth A. Piccirillo announced Wednesday.
The new fund replaces the city's former commercial facade improvement fund. The priority remains exterior improvements on commercial buildings, as well as renovations of buildings containing apartments.
Grant rules require recipients to provide matching funds. The awards may cover no more than half of a project's total cost.
The first round of competitive applications is now underway, with information available at the Community Development website. A second round will come in August. Most of the city is eligible, except for the downtown core.
